This is not very technical for you clever folk who understand computers etc but I am a bit of a dummy where such things are concerned. On my keyboard there is a key on the top left which has ` and ¬, which I can access in the usual way, as you can see. But it also has a third symbol, a vertical, straight line - hw do I access this please?

Many thanks for your help.

You know, after I read Jno's reply, my keyboard at home and here are identical, I think. However my laptop is different so my real answer should have been I don't know :-)
The | is not part of the standard UK keyboard (BS 4822), so it moves around depending on manufacturer.
On my keyboard, the FN key is grey and so are the keys that it enables.
I didn't say they would be blue on all laptops, but the key functions will always match the colour of the FN key!
chuck I didn't say you said that, I was just adding my two penneth! ;-)
For the future, Alt+0124 = |

Wow! Fascinating stuff. OK, so now I'm going to try the key to the left of Z on my keyboard, here goes ... | brilliant. It's marked ¦ but comes out as |. How very confusing, but what fun trying all the options. Thanks everyone, you have managed to give an O.A.P. some entertainment.
