My wife and I are considering having Double Glazing installed and noticed in our local paper that a grant funded by the power companies themselves was available if you met certain criteria. My question is twofold, has anyone heard of this scheme and has anyone heard of the only company within the Midland area who hold the sole concession to install it ie UNIPLAS of Chapel Ash Wolverhampton.

Any help & answers to the above would be most welcom.

I can't help specifically with double glazing but here there is a similar scheme for cavity wall insulation. I think the Council has some involvement in who the contract is awarded to. I heard about it from my local Council's Climate Change Team so its worth seeing if your local Council has something similar and can give you some more details.

I knew the council did schemes and also that the energy companies did wall and loft insulation but had never heard of this one. Have done some futher checks and found that the govenment backed Energy saving Trust have never heard of this scheme so I guess I will have to do more delving
Just be careful it's not some cowboy outfit pretending to be part of the official scheme!
