My daughter finds that swallowing a peppermint oil capsule after she has eaten helps her symptoms.
Who's told you? And what are your symptoms? If you've taken medical advice, then surely they've advised you. If you have symptoms and a friend has said that's what it sounds like, then it may well be IBS. It could also be any one of a number of other things. Really a good idea to get yourself checked out. Seen the adverts on the TV at the moment?

The hospital have told me I may have it, but not sure. I have had x-ray,and an ultrasonic scan and nothing shows on any of them. I have had urine, stool and blood samples taken and all clear. Am going to see Doc tomorrow and see what he says. I have pain from my navel to my groin on the right-hand side which get worse then I have to go to toilet three sometimes four times, the the pain gradually decreases to nothing, then starts again some days later. I don't have diarrhea , sometimes constipated, wind and feel as though when I go to toilet haven't finished. I haven't got cancer I am told, so any ideas? I feel well otherwise and not losing weight.
You seem to have had all the investigations except the important one and that is a colonoscopy.........mention this to your GP.

Diverticulitis comes to mind, although the pain is usually central or down the left side of the abdomen.

Keep us informed.
I found a change in my diet helps massively - avoiding bad fats makes a big difference to me
Initially, with the on set of my IBS I lost 3 st in 6 weeks
I had IBS (and yes, I had the camera go where a camera has no right to go) in order to rule out diverticulitis amongst other things
I have pain in just the same place as you
I do have diarrhoea, or lose stools, every day. I've had this for so long that I'm pretty much like clockwork now and everything is done and dusted in the first couple of hours of the day
Avoid chocolate as well - there is an unpronounceable ingredient in it that can cause pain and discomfort and I my poor old bowels definitely know when I've had some
I've never found peppermint capsules help. And as for Fybogel? yuck. And all it did to me was bulk me up and make it harder for me to go to the loo, so I stopped taking both. Alot of what upsets your tummy is trial and error but it can be a right pain. I also have dreadful wind which can be harder to control
You have my sympathy

how did you get on at the doc's?
Reflexology got rid of my IBS. I was in so much pain and nothing helped, it was stress that caused it but reflexology was the expensive answer for me but if you go down this route find one who is qualified in nursing as well.
Stop eating wheat and high fat foods.
I have IBS and have the same symptoms as you on and off...... I am prescribed Colafac anti-spasmodic tablets, one every morning 20 mins before eating and they work wonders for me.
