Currently watching the boxing and the commentators have pointed out that there are no white areas on the gloves to help the judges tell if a good punch has been landed. They've certainly had these white patches in recent years but not at these Olympics.

I can't find out if there has been a deliberate decision to revert to plain gloves or if the absence of a white strip is an oversight. Anyone know?

The commentators have just mentioned it and it would seem that there was simply a decision to get rid of the white.
