I have opened my e mails today to find one notice from our local library informing me that a certain library book is overdue [ no not that one I only got to chapter four and gave it back !] when I have looked inside the book the date stamp is 06 Aug 2012 ! same date with my other 3 books ! have sent them back a snotty reply and will trundle round there this morning to prove my point.
Is it harrass old ladies week or what ?
you are lucky to have a library, our councils decided that many should be cut, so volunteers have taken some over, what the hell do councils do i wonder....

I agree we are lucky to have a library and I did campaign with others to keep it open.We used to have a really friendly lot of staff there and one guy was super efficient, very precise & helpful and fascinated me because he reminded me of Roy Cropper from Corrie but all these nice people have gone I dont know where and its all "veiled ladies" at the counter.
Dee, indeed veiled lady, strangely one who works in a local library is the most unhelpful, grumpy person you could wish or not to meet. No idea why, but it never makes for a pleasant experience going there.
They must employ these ladies specially. My local town has a university and a lot of the students regularly use the towns library for their studies. Whenever I'm in there I've noticed one librarian makes more noise telling them to be quiet then the students make themselves.
Sheenamf, do you live near Beaumont-cum-moze/Wix? I know they have a phone box like that that you can book swop from. You get the key to the box fromthe local post office..
Is it a new, popular book? Chances are there's a waiting list and it has a shorter lending time than the others. Whoever has issued it to you hasn't picked up on that and has used the wrong stamp. It happens but you should get an apology and any fines waived - that's what we would do.
Georgiesmum I think there may be a few like this. Ours is stocked from village donations and monitored by a volunteer, and the box is open, never locked
