I have reposted this as I put it on very late last night.
Why is it so difficult when you get a new laptop? I have spent most of the day trying to get to grips with it. Tried to set email up, did all the POP3 and SMtp things but I am getting error messages.
Spent ages trying to sort out google toolbar got it eventually. Then spent ages getting favourites toolbar sorted that but cannot find the icon that say add to toolbar. Also have not got the little box next to google sign that you can click on to open another page. When I want another page it opens over the top of the existing one very frustrating. But at least my back button works beautifully on here.
It is not a new LP ut a refurbished Dell.
Chris, I have not got IE9, in fact not very sure what I have got. I went on help/internet options it says I have IE6. Downloaded IE8, went back on Help/io still says IE6. On desk top there is icon saying I have IE9, is it any wonder I am confused?
There is no tab showing what you have recentlyopened and no little square next to it to open another page with, I had this on other Laptop. I hope someone can help please.

right click on a blank bit of your toolbar to see the toolbars you can add/remove

commiserations caran, I got a new HP laptop for my birthday in June and had to get a friend of my son to come and set me up, then I had trouble with the printer got the guy next door to do that.I hope you get sorted.

Had to come off lap top and use main pc, I have lost the submit button so cannot play on lappie, also the content of my OP keeps disappearing, it goes blank until I page down then go back up and its there for a while. I think I may have bought a wrong 'un. Am taking it to daughters tomorrow so SIL can have a look.
