is sqad around? dad has a sore lump in breast
7 Answers
i hope you have 5 minutes to read this sqad!
Long story cut very short:
Dad is in his 70s and had radiation treatment for prostate cancer 5 years ago. He has recently suffered terribly with cystitis type symptoms, blood in urine (well, urine in his blood really!), and has had some cauterisations, and had biopsies taken from the bladder, kidney and bowel.
All these have come back clear thank goodness, and as you can imagine, it has been incredibly stressful, waiting for all these results!
Now, he is in on his 8th lot of antibiotics, (for the burning when he wees), but no sooner does it clear up that it's back again.
A few weeks ago he found a lump inhis breast, and it is incredibly sore. He saw a consultant within 2 weeks - god bless the nhs - and he took a sample form it. we get the result on thursday. He said he thinks it's a symptom of all the medication he's on (he's diabetic too and is also on warfarin).
My question to you (or anyone else who can help) is, is there anything he can take or rub on to allieviate the pain? It's really getting him down, and is so unfair that he now has to put up with this too, after coming through so much!

Firstly the lump in his breast is extremely unlikely to be anything to do with his prostate cancer. One would need to know what the biopsy of the breast lump showed....e,g is it infected.
There is nothing that you can rub into it which will alleviate the pain and i would certainly try Ibuprofen 600mgms as and when necessary up to every 4 hours for the next 48hours and keep me informed.
