No win no fee solicitors

What knowledge and/or experience do you have of "No Win No Fee" solicitors? Are they available on every high street nowadays? Do they only handle the kind of cases you only see on tv ads, like PPI and "where's there's blame there's a claim"? Are they as good as any other solicitors?

They are not fully qualified solicitors and they only accept cases where they collect a fee if they win , compensation claims and the like. They don't take on criminal law , family law or civil law cases .

it used to be that if you hadn't spent at least 1 night in hospital after your injury they wouldn't take the case on.

There will be at least one fully qualified solicitor in the firm.
They will only take on cases where the other party is insured to cover the claim.
They will only take on cases where there is a better than average chance of winning.
Some companies will expect you to take out insurance against losing to pay for expenses such as medical examinations.

The official name for no win no fee arrangements is Conditional Fee Agreement (CFA) and they will often deal with any type of case outside family or criminal law, they are probably best known for personal injury cases. You may be required to take out “after the event insurance” and it should be very easy to locate a firm that accepts CFA now that advertising is allowed in your local paper, yellow pages, on line, or by ringing around.

You may find some of your work is undertaken by Legal Executives rather than Solicitors but probably no more than in non CFA cases, a major advantage is that as has been said a CFA firm will not accept your case unless they believe there is a good chance of success which indicates the strength of your position.
