The module of a second hand one will almost certainly be of no use unless it is nearly new so it looks like you stuck with buying a new one. It is possible to program it yourelf but it is complicated and Ford will not offer you any instructions, so you will need a dealer to do it for you. Either way you will certainly need the spare key, a) to identify the key to buy for your car and b) to program the new one.
The dealer will almost certainly try to charge you to program the key (claiming he needs special software and a laptop, which is rubbish). Believe me it takes about 3 minutes but you will need the spare key to do it.
