I went to PC World this afternoon, knowing exactly which laptop I wanted. The first hurdle to overcome was to try and find a sales assistant. Two caught my eye and moved off sharpish. Assistant no. 3 had a PC World badge on and when I asked if he was free he said he didn't actually work there. Me & Mr O then caught assistant no. 4 in a pincer movement. Proceedings were very slow as he only had a tenuous grasp of the English language. He then asked several questions, starting with "do you know what the internet is?" I won't bore you with the rest of the conversation but I had a vein throbbing in my forehead by the time I left.
Rant over!

ooooooooo complain to their head office, you'll get vouchers.
You should have left the overall at home and taken the marigolds instead
That's why I never, ever go to that place. Much nicer experience at John Lewis (or their website) and a two-year, no-quibble warranty included.
The best way to deal with PC World staff is to not allow them to speak. Tell them you have fully researched the item you wish to buy and you do not want insurance for it. If they insist on trying to sell you anything else just threaten to take your custom elsewhere. :)

Thanks for the tip dotty.
I'm livid over a "special offer" they advertised. It said if you spent over £200 you got a £50 voucher free. I handed over my dosh, received the voucher and I asked if I could use it immediately. He said it could only be used during the first week in November and I could only use it if I (again) spend over £200
I once went to PC World for a new monitor and was asked by the assistant did I have a computer!
I got turned down for a job at PC world several years back.....

Most of my friends found this hilarious!
I thought you would have asked that Question before the deal was completed Mrs O!
Strange as it may seem but PC World is the easiest place for me to get consumables such as blank CDs and DVDs. I would not consider buying important hardware from them. I am also a big fan of John Lewis.
As regards buying from PC / Curry's, no chance, there are numerous cheaper deals out there if you look.

TWR, I've been doing my research for the past week. I'm happy with the deal, just not with the staff
Bit different to where I live. Walk into PC world and you get pounced on. I bought a new Kodak printer in there a few months back and the 'pouncer' hardly knew anything about it. I told him what I'd learnt from reviews on the internet so now he knows as much as me for future reference.
If you knew exactly what laptop you wanted why on earth did you buy it from PC world?

At the very least why didn't you reserve it on line and pick it up from them?

Normally much cheaper

your wrong about the voucher you have to go to the web site on the voucher, register then go on from there, you then can get your £200 offered vouchers to spend 1st November onwards ive got a new laptop mine last week
i would report that guy to head office for that stupid info
Buy online, pay with a credit card to get the s.75 protection.
Amazon has excellent customer service, costs nothing to return items.#
Buying online gives you extra legal rights - you can return the goods for any reason provided you inform the company within 7 days and return as soon as is practicable (soon to be post within 14 days).

I had a very expensive smartphone freeze 11 months after buying it from Amazon. I quick phone call, emailed a postage label to print off, full refund within a day of them receiving the item. Can't beat them for service.

I buy everything online without problem.
i was recently made aware of pc world's shortcomings, from someone at 02 who used to work for pc world.he said to me to try and get someone who knows what they are talking about.otherwise you'll get someone who will sell you anything just to get the sale.AND I NEED A NEW LAPTOP !!!
