Do you really think that
1) a vets would have a table setup ready and waiting to deal with this within 30 seconds of the owner bringing the dog in
2) the vet doesn't need to take a picture to show what they had to deal with for medical or even possible legal reasons
I'm an animal lover, but taking pictures at the vets is acceptable for several reasons.

no I wouldn't expect them to be set up but i would expect immediate sedation/pain relief....actually on rethink, in a porcupine area of the US and provided the owner phoned ahead, i would expect the vet to be set up for it, just as vets in the UK round here are set up to deal with a dog bitten by an adder.
