trimethoprim 200mg
9 Answers
I need some advice about these tablets. My 19 year old grandson is staying with me at the moment and is taking TRIMETHOPRIM 200mg twice a day for a kidney/urinary infection. He has developed a really bad rash over his body, very itchy and he doesn't feel well. I said to him he should phone his GP for advice, but like all 19 year olds will not do it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Managed to get him to go to his GP.Tablets have been stopped but no others given.Has now to go for a blood test, which is another battle (scared of needles). Think I'm fighting a losing battle here.!!
For how long has your grandson been taking this medication? I've occasionally had it for similar reasons. It used to be prescribed as one tablet twice a day for 3 days (total 6 tablets) which was sufficient for me. Tablets now come in packs of 14, a week's supply, but I still find 2 or 3 days is enough provided I take them at the first signs of discomfort.
