Getting off Facebook
Yesterday I joined Facebook but I don't like it. Don't like all those strange people who have poped up on my page, who I don't know.
How do I close my account. I have been trying all morning, so far. Can find the right button.

Same here, VHG. Not sure if I should feel offended or not.
But seriously, Facebook is safe if you have the security settings as high as possible, and it's a great way of keeping in touch with friends and relatives you don't see very often, and if you just don't have the time to sit down and write a letter or email. I use it for sharing family history research with cousins in the US and Australia.
This is a great website about the potential pitfalls of Facebook:

I don't even entertain the thought of joining Facebook. If I were to change my mind, it would involve my registering with a username and an e/mail address from one of the following:- (with acknowledgement to MarkRae who originally drew attention to the link.)
