I thought that Vernon Scripps had gone on an extended holiday but last night it was suggested that he had committed suicide. Have I missed something

For reasons which I can`t quite remember but I think it was to avoid a creditor, Vernon faked his death some time ago. This led to the vacancy which Auntie filled. Vernon went to the beach (seen yesterday) and left a pile of his clothes before disappearing. We saw him going off on a train dressed as a woman.
