I'd expect any stove labelled as being 'multifuel' to be capable of burning anthracite, and in practical terms there's no difference between the characteristics of anthracite and steam coal.
Thank you for you answers, my worries were: would that type of coal burn too hot, (too hot as in making the stove crack and somehow burn our house down), would it soot up the chimney quite a bit more, and would it soot up the glass too much. We would never load up the stove with just coal, and there would always be seasoned wood in with it- mostly wood, just a bit of coal.
