Shower heater/cylinder?

Anyone know where I can get a cylinder (i.e. heater) for a Gainsborough SV800 electric shower? Mine just quit on me, though it's only about 3 year old, so I'm not impressed. Even less so when I phoned the company and was told it would be about 60 to replace (the shower was 80). I guessed it might be about 20-30.

I've Googled, can't find the item or a similar one. Surely there's a plumbing or electrical company that can supply one at a reasonable price. If you know of on, I'd be grateful.

Thanks!

(Sorry if this shows up twice, I don't think the first one completed properly so I retyped it, but it might appear later)

Not the best make so at that price you would be better off replacing it completely as other problems are likely to arise, costing you even more. If you can get the same model it should not be too difficult to replace. Or buy a new one, fit the heater and keep the rest for spares! Will Gainsborough just supply you with the heater?

Hi Stanleyman!

Yeah, they've offered to supply, but at 60 it seems very steep. I was already thinking it might be as well to replace the whole thing, or get a new one and just use the cylinder, but ideally I'd like to find one at a fair price.

You'd think they'd be fairly readily available. Maybe I'll just have to keep looking, then maybe replace it if necessary.

As the makers they will be the only supplier.
