Olympics closing ceremony

Well, what can I say? Spice Girls were great, as was Elbow, Ed Sheeran, and the Kaiser Chiefs. But Madness were dreadful and the Pet Shop Boys were embarrassing. How come George Michael got to sing 2 songs. I think we didn't need to have the sour faced clothes horses traipsing around. And Russell Brand - how come he got to be on? The opening ceremony was brilliant but the closing ceremony sent me to bed just as the speeches began. I was under the impression that it would be music which stretched over fifty years - more like the past five years. What a disappointment!

I agree that Madness and the Pet Shop Boys have had their day. They are not with it any more.
I was very impressed with the Spice Girls though. They seem to have improved with age and would give them all 'my seal of approval' if you know what I mean.

I thought it was absolutely fantastic because it was just one big pop concert. The opening ceremony was a bit deep but then I did watch in a hotel at County Hall in London for my birthday celebrations (after champage, mojitos and red wine). I`m not sure why Jessie J and Emile Sande featured so much and I think George Michael shouldn`t have used the occasion to showcase his new song. He should have sung You`re Amazing instead.
Agree with Trigs about the Brazillians - It was just very boring. I was impressed with the Spice Girls who were far better than I expected - and why is Jessie Jay so popular? I don't understand why she had such a large part. Agree about 'We are the Champions" it would have been amazing and, yes, 'We will Rock You, should have featured a male rock singer not Jessie Jay.
But being a real Elbow fan, they (and Eric Idle) were the highlights for me.
I am no proud of British music - in fact I am really proud of being British.
