I don't think I've ever looked at the price.

I'm not dismissing it, I don't drive much though. I've done 6,000 miles in nearly 2 years and that includes weekends away.

My OH put £20 in the car last week. I expect to put another £20 sometime next month.
Lucky you! It's £1.44 where I am!
No specific answer to your question but my suspicion is, because they can.
£1.26 two weeks ago...not been that price round here for almost two years ne'er mind 2 weeks...now £1.32 at Barnsley ASDA>
Usually, all the major supermarket fuel supplies are bought in Rotterdam on the bunker fuel spot price, this is very susceptible to market varience, which has rise/falls every hour, thus creating the price varience seen at you local petrol station. As shown here http://www.fta.co.uk/...ekly_fuel_prices.html

This site shows the current pricing for fuels, as of today - http://www.bunkerworl...m/prices/port/nl/rtm/
might rise and fall every hour but as soon as it hits a low price within a day or say it starts creeping back up again, doesnt seem to come back down until it hits a silly high price...
Was only remembering my early years of motoring when you just filled up at the supplier of your choice (esso/BP etc) not on the cost of the fuel, or worry about the MPG and the cost of a journey, most vehicles were around 25-28 mpg regardless, those were the days...
At least Asda has a national pricing policy - no other fuel retailer does, including supermarkets.

We have a local Texaco garage which has cut price petrol two days every week. Trouble is, it's never the same two days so you have to be on your toes to catch it.
The daughter bought a load of stuff to get vouchers for a lot off diesel at Tesco's. She now has a tank full of extremely cheap diesel and a cupboard full of crap she'll never use.
Surely they store enough of the stuff to smooth out any spike rise & falls. If there is any justification for a rise it should be down to a longer term trend.
just come up the M1 (J12) diesel = £1.50 per litre...........
Syria?
Got my self a Santander 123 card and get 3% off fuel.
Also Tesco forgot to send 10p off voucher last week with home delivery.
So called them and they apologised and posted 3 * 10p vouchers :-)
So got £16.30 off last fill up and 3% back via 123 card.

Price of oil is going up and it's school holidays and they always put prices up during holiday period due to increase in demand.
I hadn't realised Tesco did home delivery petrol.
Maybe I should order some for my lawn mower.
I was paying 1.29 last week and now it's 1.35!..............just silly!......
August is traditionally the major maintenance season for crude facilities - extensive work in USA/Canada/UK and Iran that I am aware of - this has tightened the supply side quite significantly and pushed crude spot prices upon the various trading markets, Rotterdam (reference Nibble) being just one.
The price of Brent crude oil has risen by nearly 30 per cent in the past two months.

Instability in major oil-producing areas (such as Israel's threats to attack Iran) and continuing rises in consumption in rapidly-developing countries (such as China and India) are largely behind the rise in prices.

And now for some more bad news:
The USA is the world's largest exporter of wheat but, due to prolonged drought, much of this year's crop has failed. China continues to buy up more of the world's wheat every year, meaning that there will be a worldwide shortage of wheat.. Expect BREAD prices to DOUBLE by this time next year!
