Hi,
Iv been cycling 4 times a week since January. I usually ride every other day. Recently iv had soreness in my left knee only. My right knee has been ok. I did tweek my saddle height 2 weeks ago. I dropped it down a good way,then4 days later lifted it up slightly(1/4 of an inch). Could saddle height be the problem?. i cant understand why its only my left knee though. My right kneee is fine.
I agree with you.....almost certainly, the reason for your problem is a change of posture due to changing the position of your saddle.
Why is it just one sided? because you have changed the position of the mechanical forces which have placed more emphasis on the left knee.
are you sure you have correctly adjusted the saddle height, lots of ladies have them far to low (so they can touch the ground without getting off the saddle)
Sounds like the saddle is too low and the angle your knee has to work from is too acute. Have a look at GSR's link. I set the seat height so that my leg is straight when my heel is on the pedal this gives a slight bend when I pedal on my toes. If your leg never opens to less than 15 degrees you won't exercise the small muscle that keeps your kneecap straight and it will rub in a groove and hurt
