What wrong with Stacey's mum?

I have been watching Eastenders and I believe my partner has the same mental health problems as Stacey's mum. I'm serious.

Can anyone tell me what they think it is so I can learn more and seek help...for myself? He can not seem to see the intense mood swings or fire he spits 95% of the time.

I think thy're trying to portray Bi-Polar disease which used to known as Schitsophrenia. Hope this helps, Shazza x

Bi-polor disorder is not schizophenia. Bi polor is manic depression, hence being bipolor. People who have this get really really depressed and cant see a way out of the sadness because they burn themselves out after relatively short respite of being really really happy. Schizophrenia is a very different vast illness.

jedimistress, if you're concerned enough to ask AB what this condition might be, please don't leave it and hope it goes away. At the very least ring the number and just talk to someone, say exactly what you've said to us, they're used to it, and that's what they're there for.

Alternatively try http://www.mind.org.uk/ or http://www.psychnet-uk.com/dsm_iv/bipolar_disorder.htm He may suffer from some degree of Bipolar (and goodsoulette is right, schizophrenia is totally different) or it may be something else. Can you talk to him about the fact that this worries you? good luck, but don't ignore it, your life could be a lot better if you could find some help. x
