I need to unscrew like a kind of a screw on my steam generator - the indentation on the screw is about the size of a 10 pence. However it is coroded and I cannot get it open either with a 10 pence or a screwdriver. Any ideas what I could use with a bit of length. Hope you get the gist of this. Thanks

A better description of the screw would help. Is the threaded part likely to be long ? if so penetrating oil or WD40 is not going to help. Placing a screwdiver in the slot and tapping it with a hammer could help, but is the casing of the generator likely to be broken by the impact? A nail-punch or something similar can be placed at the end of the slot, held obliquely and tapped in an anti-clockwise direction. If all else fails, a hole can be drilled into the screw and tapered tool with a left-handed thread can be screwed into the screw. I have a set, but cany remember what they are called, perhaps 'Screw-Outs'. Any mechanic should know of them.
o, really beautiful chuck.

though probably rubbish for ironing
Do *not* hit a srew with anything, you run the risk of stripping the thread and firkin' the job altogether
screw even

A London Pattern Screwdriver may be what you need

You have to scroll down to 'Types of screw drivers' and then to London Pattern.
London Pattern screwdrivers are up to 4 feet long .

'Screw - Screw'
Connemmara if your steam generator is so corroded that you can't undo a screw on it, PLEASE get rid of it as it is dangerous,! It may blow up in your face ! Mind you it may solve your achey mouth and teeth problem at the same time !
That is what they are called on ebay too, Doug
