Upgrade from Win 7 Starter to full version
6 Answers
My daughter's netbook is loaded with Win 7 Starter but I'd her to have the full Home edition. All the stuff I've found on the net so far seems to be based on installing over old platforms like XP, Vista etc, rather than upgrading from Starter. Is an upgrade from Starter the same price as upgrading from an older platform?

Windo ws 8 will be released in October for around £25. It is very easy to install and doesn't affect your files, documents etc. I recommend you wait till then.

Hi ChuckFickens. It's only because of her age, really. She's 13, and I know she'll want to have things like her own desktop picture (the fact that you can't do that in the Starter edition is, I think, a bit poor, but there you go). Her netbook will be used almost exclusively for schoolwork and - you know how schools are - I'll bet there's all sorts of multimedia stuff she'd need to be able to make use of.
Of course you may well be right; although her netbook is brand new and fairly high spec, it might not be able to cope. I'm hoping we can find out its capabilities when we go to upgrade and have the option of installing the right components.
