Shabby chic furniture

I'm on a budget and have been hunting everywhere for cheap white shabby chic furniture e.g nest if tables, White ornamental bird cages, home sweet home accessories, coffee tables. Prepared to buy seconds in good condition. Does anyone know where I can get these at reasonable prices? I'm looking at £150 for nest of tables bit expensive for me.

I think you would be best to create your own look, buy cheap plain furniture (second hand) strip back and use paint effects to bring it all together.

Try freecycle for second hand furniture, you can put a wanted post on. Or scout around, some charity shops have furniture. You can buy Annie Sloan chalk paints to do them yourself. http://www.anniesloan.com/index.html

I've just started doing this myself as i found it so hard to find bedroom furniture. what sort of price were you looking to spend? theres plenty of antique shops near me that i pick things up from and do myself.

I'm not sure on how much just as little as poss, as I'm student/ single mum! Doin it my self may work! I no my nan n great aunt have sone old furniture in there garages but i don't really have a clue how I'd do it!! Wot paint to use ect.. I like the stuff on http://www.melodymaison.co.uk/ with the bird Design on but how would I do that design myself? Thanx for all ur answers

that's really nice! I'm looking for simliar stuff too and like you I'm on a budget, so I'll be buying from ebay and painting it myself with eggshell wood paint and adding nice handles if needed.

For the bird design try stencils of stickers i've been looking at wall stickers on ebay, there are loads on there....

Ohh there gorgeous I'm actually very excited to do it myself now! Iv just got all the bathroom stuff like the toilet paper holder n towel hilder, and I actually painted an old chest of braws White that my gran gave me n put that in bathroom looks brill! But I glossed it so may strip it n do egg shell. Hope I do a good job :-) thanx

Carliex where abouts are you? theres a fair few shops in the souith west that sell this sort of stuff at a decent price.

If you actually register on freecycle in your area they will sent you a couple of lists a day of free stuff as it comes on, but you have to be quick. You really must do it as people give away some amazing stuff they just want rid of.
