When I leave my desktop for a short while my wireless connection disconnects itself and I have to again go into Control Panel and work my way to the section where I tick a box saying "Use windows to configure my wireless connection". This happens every time I leave my computer for a short time. Is there any way that I can fix my wireless connection so that I do not have to keep on doing the above exercise.
Thanks.
For the benefit of the upcoming tech advise, could you state what sort/type of device you use to receive the wifi signal to your desktop computer. I never use "Use windows to configure my wireless connection" and prefer to use the program that usually comes with the modem/card.
Do you get receive broadband wirelessly or via cable?
Are you not able to connect the modem straight to the desktop by ethernet cable, always an better option.
Wildwood, My router is a BT Voyager and to avoid using ethernet cables i link the router to my desktop by a Trendnet wireless USB adapter in my tower. This works for me but my wireless connection shuts off when I leave computer dormant for a short while.
Mmm... still no techie help. All i can think of is that the adapter may have a powersaving mode that switches itself off after a period of inactivity. Have a poke about in the software for the adapter and see if there is anything like that that can be switched off.
