I would like to have a mobile phone that includes a video camera and which can transfer pics and videos directly to my computer. At present I have a rather old mobile that can take pictures and I then email them to myself to pick up on the computer – but I feel there must be a better way! I would appreciate a few suggestions please about mobiles to consider - as simple to use as possible as I’m not very clever with technology! Thank you.

It's not a phone unfortuneately, but I got myself a 'kodak playfull' last month which has belting picture quality and will take HD video, connecting to devices via an inbuilt USB or uploading directly to youtube etc as you prefer.
The only drawback I can suggest with this camera - apart from its not being a phone! is that it has a tiny screen. The Flip camera which is similar has a bigger screen but is about twice what I paid.

A good start thank you Mosaic. I'll wait a while and see what other suggestions might be made.
There is only one to consider:
Samsung Galaxy S2 or S3 .... There are a number of ways to get a picture from the ( 8MP )camera to your PC, or you can use the KIES AIR package which comes installed - to wifi to your PC and upload/download.

You could also blue tooth but it's slower..

It is quite simply the best out there, and now that the S£ is out, the S2 is going to be coming down drastically in price ! Please don't get anything made by apple ....

Grateful for your advice, thank you harley-Husky. When you haven't had one of this gadgets it's difficult to know where to start with so many being advertised on the internet. You've given me hope of a good choice.
I use a Galaxy S3 and one way of doing this is by using Dropbox; one can set it to automatically upload pictures so that one doesn't even need to remember to manually upload them
