Earth as requested......
Let's see if the pedants are out in force today.
The soil dark and loamy
hey, the Humber Estuary is mud
earthy coloured, mind you, rather foamy.
sand and silt, water bearing
home to worms, molluscs, seafood
pipers balancing on one leg, wings flaring
reeds knotted sway in the breeze
their roots stabilising the silt
forming potential thatch, homes for the bees.
the process of stabilisation,
man secures the land, pushes back the sea
Lincolnshire farmland rich and in formation
rain and water cuts across the land,
rills, streamlets, the river forms
carrying soil back to Estuary sands
the cycle of life in the Humber creek
continual interaction of earth, air and water
turning over our minds, making us realise we are weak.
