..We all know the very finest concert pianos were made by Steinway or Bosendorfer for example, and the ultimate in violins is a Stradivarius.
BUT is there an equivalent pecking order with the makers of the wood wind ,brass and percussion instruments of the orchestra,I wonder....

I know that James Galway used to have a silver flute which purported to have a sweeter tone. I would imagine that an instrument made of wood is more subject to change
