Anyone watching Celebrity Masterchief, i enjoy this series especially watching "celebs" trying to cook, some of them have admitted to having never cooked, but why do John and Gregg find it acceptable that soggy mash, duck, meat etc served almost raw are the norm!.

Meat served like that IS the norm for a lot of people - particularly in The Criterion!

Don't think I'll be dining in the Criterion, looks a lovely place but I like my meat well done.
I once went to an expensive restaurant & ordered my duck breast to be well-done. The waiter looked at me as if I wasn't right in the head....My partner got the same treatment when she ordered the same for the lamb...
The idea is that good meat doesn't need so much cooking. Personally, I prefer my beef rare but my duck cooked til just slightly pink, certainly not bloody like in the Criterion. Beef looked good though!
Good meat is more tender when it's rare, and more flavoursome.
I like my lamb and beef pink. I can't speak for duck though. I find it fatty and not all that special.
Yes, love masterchef. I like my meat rare so I thought the meat looked just fine. I hate mash though.
Soggy mash? How very dare you?! I think the term may have been something like 'potato puree'. I like Masterchef - but I think all food served in 'fine establishments' is pretty poncey these days with its thimble of 'jus', and its solitary carrot and tomato with stalks still attached. I'd rather have egg & chips - but don't tell my friends. ;o)

I enjoy Masterchef, it always makes me feel sweaty though watching them cooking against the clock. I agree with Naomi, about the poncy food.

what really annoys me and gets me shouting at the tv is when Greg and John badger the contestants by saying they're not going to have the food ready on time, you should be plating up now, hurry up and serve it etc. etc. So what if it's another 2 or 3 minutes, the panel of experts or past contestants are getting free meals, let 'em wait. And by shouting, they're not going to make them work any quicker, just be all fingers and thumbs.
I don't understand why celebs put themselves forward for this if they don't really enjoy cooking - last night Jenny Eclair admitted she'd never cooked some of the dishes.

One thing that I don't understand is why some of the contestants have not cooked the dish before!? If it was me, I would have practiced the dish several times at home, rather than admitting that it's the first time I've made it. Mind you - I do think that when they have to make up their own meal from a box and you get a plate of brians, and other offal or that ghastly looking fish that they had in the beginning of the series - I wouldn't have a clue where to start. They must be very keen to go through the Masterchef process.
