wedding abroad
hello all ,,,, we are planning a cruise next sept and to be different we would like to get married either on board or at one of the ports of call, the trip stops off at various ports in the med , any views folks ??|

My personal view is that the whole point of a wedding is to stand in front of all our loved ones and make our vows to each other. I'm not religious and frankly would not have married unless we were making our promises meaningful by stating them in front of everyone.
Yes, the surroundings that you describe sound lovely and romantic but to me it's the vows that matter and the cruise would be just as lovely as a honeymoon.

Oh FGT, that must have been awful. If my family was like that I think I would agree with you. I went to a wedding once where everyone was fighting and we left early. I can't understand why people act like that!
I don't agree about renewing vows though; if you make a vow and mean it, it doesn't need to be renewed does it?

If you intend getting married at one of your ports of call, the first thing you need to consider is residency requirements. In some countries, as in the UK, a one or two day stop-over will not be enough.

ps. I got married in Las Vegas. No residency requirements - but no cruise ships either - so that one's no good to you. ;o)
