A friend is in court next Tuesday for drink driving (just over the limit) and is pleading guilty. I was asking him which solicitor he is using (he's not) and to cut a long story short he has asked me to represent him. The man is an idiot. I said I'd do it but told him to be prepared to be sent down lol

When I worked in the court no-one except a solicitor could speak for a defendant. The defendant can represent himself and I have heard an odd one make a better case than some solicitors. He needs to be really remorseful and emphasise how difficult it would be for his family if he couldn't drive -school runs etc. this is assuming he really is sorry and didn't realise he was over the limit. Otherwise he deserves to be banned.
Is this his first offence? Don't know if that makes any difference mind but it may.
