I'm a little confused, is Stacey's mum Charlie's sister or sister-in-law?

Her paternal grandmother is charlies sister. The grandmother never married, hence she kept the name Slater, and Charlie is her great uncle

Yes, but Stacey's mum said she was married last night and something about 'Stacey Slater wanting to be a ice skater professional' when Stacey was a kid, but if Jean was married her surname wouldn't be Slater?

Nevermind I answered my own question, Charlies sister (violet) had a child out of wedlock (Stacey's dad) hence the surname
