may be, if its got one, a faulty thermal lance
Hi, is it an open type fire with false coal or wood?if it is you need to get the end of the vacuum cleaner hose onto where the gas comes out into the fire( where it ignites) make sure fire is off 1st! and turn hoover on-these often get clogged up with dust off the artifial coal pieces ,hope it works for you ,ive had to do this a couple of times over the last 3 years
It might be as simple as a thermocouple not heated properly or failing etc. but it could also be due to lack of air in the room. Have you blocked off any air vents? Could also be a blocked chimney, either way there is a real risk of carbon monoxide poisoning so don't take chances with your life get a CORGI gas engineer in.
