Divorce - Can ex dictate when he wants to collect belongings?

Can your divorced husband dictate when he wants to come to the property to collect his belongings? He has said he is going to come with a community police officer but he hasnt arranged one yet...

I've said he can come at a later date but currently the date he intends on coming I can't be at home as I am working. Surely this isn't right? He has been out of the home for over 3years now. It's not that he can't come but tomorrow is inconvenient.

Does anyone have any advice?

no - he must have your agreement if he is to enter a property that he no longer resides in. however, he must give reasonable notice to do so and if you are working then he must choose another date. does he still have keys to the property?

I hope he's charged the going rate for the 'hire' of a PSCO - and doesn't expect tax payers to fork out for his escort.

Friend went through a similar experience. He has to arrange the date and time with you. I hope you have changed your locks, community policeman certainly wouldn't condone him entering the property while you were absent.

As has been said it must be a time and date that is mutually convenient, I doubt he will bring a PCSO with him unless there has been previous violence and there is concern that there may be a breach of the peace.
To save a wasted journey you may wish to inform him the date is not convenient.

best thing to do is offer three dates convienient to yourself, this would be seen as you offering reasonable access should the matter go further

Tell him to come on a date that is suitable for you, if he refuses you could threaten to charge him for 3 years storage fees for his stuff.

And if it's beyond a "reasonable time" tell him you'll move his belongings into storage and he'll be responsible for the storage charges.
