Anyone been to the Olympics?

Hi,
Anyone know if your ticket gets you an all day pass into the park? We're going to see the athletics tomorrow and all it says in the paperwork you get with it is that the stadium is open two hours before the event. Our slot is at 7pm, what time will we be allowed in the park?

Yes, you can go into the park all day, and then into the stadium at the time on your ticket.

Oh nice one, that you JJ. I don't want to spend all day there [my arthritis may have something to say about that] but a leisurely stroll around it will be nice.
Have you been? Any do's or don't or recommendations?

I went on Friday morning and my only tips would be get there early enough to have a stroll around (which you've obviously got covered) and if you're in the stadium take some very warm clothing. It was a nice day on Friday when I went but in the stands it was absolutely freezing.

I had thought about the temperature drop! I only live 20 mins away and as you say the days have been lovely but it must be freezing in there at night.

I went to Greenwich Park, but I know a lot of people who went to the main stadium.

It sounds like the thing to do is have a stroll around, then grab a drink and park yourself in front of the big screen, watch the screen, hear the crowd from inside the stadium, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Apparently even people without a ticket can get into the Olympic Park for £1.00.

It sounds really good.

If you want a quiet sit down, there are lots of benches by the river beyond the aquatics centre.
Generally, there aren't many places to sit other than on the grass in the viewing screen meadows.
The park and the wild flower gardens are well worth strollling around and very photogenic. There are plenty of water taps and lots of choice in food and drink.
I wouldn't recommend the Panasonic pavilion.
I would recommend approaching it as a relaxing, interesting day in the park punctuated by your visit to the sports event - assume you will want to have another wander and refreshment there after the event before heading for home.
