well a tv . you cant use a pc monitor to watch tv unless you have a digi tv dongle plugged in or its already got one built in, you can use a tv for both if its got a vga or a hdmi socket
If you are sure you are not going to use it as a TV, I'm unsure why you'd contemplate buying a TV. Extra functionality to pay for but not use.

Thx for reply but i was thinking more about the picture Quality i.e working on and viewing images rather than watching TV
There is no hard and fast rule that covers all TVs and all monitors...

But generally, for the same price the screen quality of a monitor will be far higher than that of a TV, especially the refresh rate and response time which can make a huge difference if playing games.

If you decide you want to use it as a TV later on you can always ad a TVtuner card to the computer and you've got a full function PVR with record and pause on live TV for very little money.
The screen technologies for monitors and TVs have converged so there is really no fundamental difference in the screen technology per se.

However check the resolutions of the products you are considering. Not all HD TVs are equal. 1080P (1080 horizontal lines) is the Full HD television while some are only 720.

Monitors will have two numbers which is the horizontal by vertical pixel count. Most are now at least the 1080 vertical resolution. Make sure it is the "native" or optimum resolution as monitors also support graphics outputs higher than their true resoluton.

Many TVs have USB and SD ports which allow them to show photos without a computer so that is one advantage of the TV.
whatever you get make sure its 1080p (progressive) not 1080i (interlaced)
Something that people often forget is that HD only means High Definition as compared to standard TV pictures. Computer monitors have been available in much higher resolutions for many years. So a "True HD monitor" is actually a "Mediocre Resolution monitor"
