Just finished the third and final book in the trilogy. Not to everyone's taste, so I'd hesitate to recommend the books - especially to fans of gentle romantic fiction - but completely unique and absolutely superbly written. Sorry, not a question, but something I think worth saying. I'm impressed! My compliments to the author!!
it's categorised as teenage fiction like the twilght debacle and so not something i would consider to read but it is hotting up amongst adults because the movie is quite hyped.
Same as 'The Book Thief' and 'The Boy in Striped Pyjamas', Dot. I've had several conversations on here with people who've said they're books written for teenagers and so will not read them .... but it's their loss - really it is. All quite brilliant - and all unforgettable.
yes i get that naomi, but when you're selling a book to a 12 year old lad it just seems unlikely a read for me, though several of our student staff have read them.
Dot, Me too - until I'm nagged incessantly to read them – which I am. I was the same with Harry Potter (not that he can be compared to the books I've mentioned) - and I'm one of his biggest fans now. Like anything else, you don’t know until you try it.
Sherrard, bought it yesterday. Apparently it covers only the first book - there are more movies to come. Hopefully I'll get time to watch it at the weekend.
Sherrard, the reports I've seen on here aren't favourable - but I'm not sure the critics have read the books - and since this story is so very unique, I think it might be important to have done so. We shall see.
Did you know that "unique" is an absolute which should not be modified by using words like "completely","very" and so on?
There....that's my pedantry of the day off my chest
