Can I swap over 12v bulbs to 240v bulbs.

In our ceiling there are 6 recessed bulbs running of a transformer at each bulb. So there is a loop with 240v and at each of the 6 bulbs a transformer connected onto a 12v bulb.

Are there any issues if I wish to do away with the 6 transformers, and just run 240v bulbs directly off the loop?

I'm thinking of changing them over today. I'm going to take out the transformer and fit GU10 holders in their place and fit 6 20W 240v bulbs. I just wanted to check first whether or not it is that straight forward or are there issues that may arise?

Flobbers ........... been doing this a lot lately. Pull the cable into the room, throw away the holder and transformer, and fit GU10 holder.
I haven't been fitting any halogens though ......... too hot and wasteful..... consider LEDs. I'll post a link if you're interested.

Builder, what is the light like from leds? I have an led torch and it is far too much if a white light rather than a warm yellow light.

Cheers Builder. I ended up changing two transformers and all the bulbs down to 20w, but if the problem persists now I will go ahead with your suggestion and I'll save that link.
