I wonder if more would have been made of this man's paedafilia if he had it been Asian having a relationship with a 15 year old.

I don't think the length of sentence for the crime is as important as whether this man will ever develop a personality that is not subject to fits of insane jealous rage.
Personally I think it unlikely and I believe he will always be a danger to women.

It would be more so if this story had not been deemed newsworthy, or if the reaction of the population had not been shock and horror as it was.

On what is that statement based? Nowhere in the news reports does it state that the couple had a sexual relationship, so you cannot assume that one was taking place, so in that instance your assumption is just that - and as such is not a valid comment.
