More strikes threatened. Do these people really understand the real world? Why do they think people in the private sector should be taxed out of existence and end up in poverty with poor pensions so his members can enjoy gold plated pensions?
Well, go on strike. You wont get paid so the country will save more and I doubt whether most people will be impacted.

One problem with the shrinking of the public sector would seem to me to be the consequent lack of public accountability in so many walks of life.
As to the rights and wrongs of the strikes, I don't know enough to comment on that.

Coming from a Civil Service background, I can appreciate reasons for striking. However, I don't agree with everyone and did cross the picket line more than once.
The small amount of abuse I got at the time was met with my threat to call the police on them, especially as I walked around holding a portable tape recorder to record their abuse. It didn't do me any harm. Few years later I became a regional union rep.
@youngmafbog - Few get gold plated pensions. GP's, surgeons and Higher ranking Civil Service would fall into that bracket. But the general staff and lower managers would have to work 40 years to get what I would call gold plated, or bronze plated pensions. Don't believe all you read in the media.
