What is an interface feature?

In layman's terms, what are interface features? I teach learners with learning disabilities and the criteria I have to meet are 'select appropriate ICT communication resource to send information' (and 'receive' information)' use the interface features to receive information' (and 'send' information). My understanding is that the Interface is the screen and the features to receive and send information (an email perhaps) would therefore be the 'send' button, the 'inbox' button etc. Am I right?

I suppose an "interface feature" could also be the keyboard or mouse, or similar devices used by people with leaning disabilities.
