Different parenting styles
3 Answers
My husband has been living with my 3 children and me for 9 mths now. My 4 year old is rebellious to begin with and 100 times worse when it comes to listening to him. We have different parenting styles, how do you know which way is the most effective? And secondly, for such a young age, she is still set on her father and I being together. How do I let her know this will not be happening?

For us it worked to have only one rule base, don't do anything you wouldn't like doing to you and always remember if you do then there will be consequences you might not like. Her idea was that this teaches cause and effect and responsibility for their own actions which to my absolute surprise turned out to be right. After my kids ( her son was already very well behaved) thought it was going to be a free for all it began to materialise until 12 months into our relationship all of the kids were happy confident and most importantly nice people.Honesty is vital with kids, tell your daughter honestly that this will never happen, don't soften it, and she will accept it all the quicker.
