working hours
Hi,
my brother in law, is currently working 48 hours a week, over 4 days. Hes only allowed 16 days holiday a year of which so many are taken from him for over the christmas period, however the company is closed for that week anyway, so is the company right to take the holidays off him? He is willing to work the time over christmas, obviously he doesnt have that choice.

However, the employer must give notice of the days he wishes the employee to take leave on. This period of notice must be at least twice the period of leave. In other words if your brother-in-law's boss wants him to take 1 weeks leave at Xmas he must give your B-i-L 2 weeks notice.
