Following on from the Thatcher t-shirts, which seemed to be quite serious, a rock group in Belfast in the 1980's has a "Daniel O'Donnell must die tour" and were seveely reprimanded for it, despite many folks sharing that tongue in cheek sentiment. It was quite obviously a joke but it cost them a fortune as they had to redo all of the promo material.

Happily, Daniel is still alive and well but, on the down side, he is still touring.

There must be similar feelings about the "Go Compare" guy. The company has even started taking the urine out of him themselves.

About as funny as a Frankie Boyle gig.

You don't like Father Ted then?
Love Father Ted.

Aaaah, the quest to rid the world of Daniel then?
No, I meant the T shirt 'joke' was seriously unfunny.

That was the reason for the comparison with the so called comedian.
How can all these old TV series be online to watch for free. All 25 of Father Ted are available. Don't the TV companies hold the copyright?

Frankie Boyle is thoroughly nasty and, without wishing to defend the band, theirs was tongue in cheek. I know that because I know the guitarist from school. I, (and he), will readily admit it was not in great taste, but it was not intended to offend anyione. If they were guilty of anything it was thoughtlessness, and what 18/19 year olds haven't been? He is now rather wealthy and famous whereas I am not. Perhaps I shoud have been in the t-shirt business?
Anyone old enough to remember the "Hang Mandela" T-Shirts, as a cheeky response to the "Free Mandela (with every six gallons)" ones? They went down like a load of lead balloons.
