Deeds to home.
During our divorce my ex agreed for me to have our home,mortgage fully paid 5 years ago. I've been waiting for the deeds as my ex took them with him when he left. My conveyencing solicitor has been told by the Halifax there's outstanding charges owed which we know there isn't. I got onto the Halifax but they would't tell me anything as the house is in my ex's name tho' mines on the land registry. If there were charges outstanding we would never have been given the deeds 5 years ago. Where can I go from here? Thanks to anyone who can advise.

methyl, Im using the same firm as I did for my divorce but it's now their conveyencing solicitor im using. During the divorce proceedings ,the divorce solicitor advised me to get my name on the land registry to stop my ex from selling or taking out a loan etc. I did this and paid £450 for it. My ex's name is on the title deeds and the house is freehold. Im wondering if...

The deeds are irrelevant; your property will be registered with the Land Registry. It is what name(s) that appear in the proprietorship register of the land title that is important. If your ex agreed for you to have your home, only your name should appear on the register - otherwise your ex still has a stake in the property.
The 'deeds' document you say you received 5 years ago, unless it is an ancient-looking old legal document (which are truly deeds) is nothing more than a copy of what details are held by the Land Registry. The Land Registry don't issue these any more, but they did 5 years ago. Have a look inside it and see what name(s) appear.

Buildersmate, When my ex paid up the mortgage 5 years ago he was sent the title deeds. A buff colour with all the names of the people who had lived here before us dating back to 1932 when the house was built. There was also a small letter of congratulations. My name is definately on the land registry btw. I had a letter from my conveyancing solicitor yesterday advising me to contact my ex for him to actually contact the Halifax re the alleged charges outstanding from 2001 would you believe? He willl be going to the Halifax later today. Im in a right quandery likewise my ex-( Thanks.
