That really isn't fair, so if I had the misfortune of loosing the use of my legs, and was resigned to a wheelchair, I couldn't got to a pub and get drunk with my mates?
It is illegal, under UK law, to be drunk in a pub or club, or any other licensed premises.

So no, you couldn't go to a pub & get drunk ...wheelchair or not.

Why do you ask? Are you planning on losing your legs?

A manual wheelchair user is a pedestrian. Electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters share the same definition of class 2 and class 3 invalid carriages. They are exempt from the the Road Traffic Act so a disabled person cannot be prosecuted for drink driving. It is illegal for person who is not disabled to use a class 2 or 3 invalid carriage when drunk. It becomes a motor vehicle so the user can be banned from driving a car. Not a lot of people know that.
