I had a horrible afternoon changing the bulb in the oven, it should have taken a few minutes but as some stupid man (it to be a man) thought it best to put the bulb behind the back liner, tight in the top left hand corner so that the liner had to come out, the door had to come off as its a drop down one and I could'nt get close enough to reach in, I finally did it, now I would like to meet that man and give him a good kicking, as my knees ache and my poor arthritic fingers ache, all for a light bulb I hope the rest of you had a better day.

I sympathise, we are without light in our oven because we can't get the bulb out
Yes Cecil, having changed a number of oven light bulbs for the female members of my family, I can sympathise with you. They are, to use a technical term, right s0ds (the bulbs, that is, not the females;-).
You are to be congratulated on persevering with the task and getting it done. Despite all the aches and creaks, you'll no doubt be feeling just a little bit pleased with yourself. The good news is that they don't blow very often (repeat above comment in brackets) so your replacement should last a fair time. If or when you come to change your oven, a built-in oven at waist height is a lot easier to keep clean and change the bulb. I guess you realise that now though don't you?
I don't know what sort of answer you expected but I hope this just lets you know that somebody has a bit of sympathy!
Don't blame the man who designed it for a man to replace, blame the woman who didn't want to be an oven designer but instead chose to be a designer of girly things..
When you close the fridge door, does the bulb go out? How do you know?
Sorry! My reply crossed with Sib's!

I was offering my sympathies rather than endorsing hers!
The bulb in my fridge seldom comes on when I open the door. No idea what happens when I shut it.
I don't have a light in my oven.
You need to stick a video camera in there, Mike.
Who needs a bulb in the oven anyway? My mother cooked with gas, no bulbs there, yet I don't recall her culinary creations suffering as a result.
Howard, if the bulb in your fridge seldom comes on when you open the door then it would be safe to assume that it seldom goes out when you close it.:-)
Is a bulb in the oven the same thing as having a bun in the oven?
Only asking!
After designing your oven, he went on to car design.

He specialises in headlamps, making sure they are located as close to the battery as possible.

He also insists that the bulbs are secured in with a ridiculous wire spring device that you can neither see, or fathom out by feel.
I thought the bulb had gone in my oven. Turned out Mr Muscle fixed it.
Theres a bulb in the oven so the chicken can see when it done. Am I right ?
