How do I deal with my claims adjuster in an effective, but respectful manner?
5 Answers
I had a slip and fall in a grocery store while shopping with my 2 yr old son and suffered from back injury & injured ankle. The claims adjuster didn't really give me room to talk by basically answering for me or answering her own questions. Then jumping to the next subject. I don't want them to think that I am rude, but I deserve to be treated fairly. She also told me that the amount she gave me was computerized and that she had no control over it, could not change it and could not help me any further. Basically telling me my only option was to settle or go to court. Not to mention that the amount she gave me was a waste of breath, considering the bills, loss of wages, etc. that came out of my personal time & pocket. If it is true that is is a computer calculation, then it is not worth my time. However, neither was that trip to the store that left me with these issues worth all that i went threw either, so...I don't how to handle it other than court if she is telling the truth.

You will have to but already have
quantified the losses
and the lawyer will tell you which are allowable
child care fees which you would have paid anyway , are not , for example.
You will have to bring the case in negligence [I think]
so you will have to allege and prove some negligent act on behalf of the shop - wet floor, hole in lino etc.
Loss adjusters - hmm - remember they are employed by the shop's insurance co to minimise their loss.
Oh and they get a per cent of the amount they deprive you of
and do they lie ? they sure do - or else their commission goes down.
You did better than I did.
First be asked me to lock my dog up - a labrador
and then when I asked him who hewas employed by
he answered: do you want me to leave ?
I issued a claim in the small claims court
