One of the young hens is showing signs of being broody - four/five days now I have just been removing the egg each day as I think his time of the year will not be a good time for her to hatch chicks - by the time she has a clutch then sits on them for three weeks we'll be well into winter. Have heard of putting a wet sponge in the nest, dunking her bottom in cold water and putting her in a wire cage for a few days. Any jkind suggestions from experienced hen keeping welcomed. Thank you

My dad kept chickens for years and always had half a dozen dummy eggs to put under broody hens.they'd sit them for 3-5 weeks then give up and go back to normal
