The Battle of Britain Memorial Trust (who, after all, ought to know about such things) suggest that you're a couple of months too late!

Never mind, there's other things to celebrate our Britishness on September 15th. How about the opening of the Liverpool to Manchester Railway in 1830? Can't get more British than a railway and Wiliam Huskisson was killed, run over by a train, at the opening too, so we can commemorate that as a bonus.
