My daughter was off school on Friday with temp etc, went to docs yesterday, prescribed antibiotics for tonsillitis.
She had a temp this morning but has been ok since, been complaining of a sore throat now and again today but seems a lot better than yesterday.
My husband is keen to send her to school tomorrow if she doesn't have a temp through the night. I would probably keep her off tomorrow. What would you do?
I'd keep her off, wouldn't see the point in sending her for her to get worse or give her bug to the other kids. I always err on the side of caution as they seem to get poorly again if you send them back to school when they are not 100%. (But I would only do that with the ones in primary school and probably only think that way as I don't work so it is no hardship to me if they stay home or not.). Hope she feels better soon.
as long as you are giving her the anyi-biotic (which means it is not a viral infection) then she should be fine by the morning to go to school but don't alter the duration between doses, if you have to send the medication with her, do schools still have a sick-room? (shudder)
See how she is in the morning and make a judgment call then. If she gets another temperature or has a bad night's sleep with pain or discomfort then she might not be up to going. One more day to make sure she is right to go back would be better than being set back by going back too soon.
Do as my mum used to do - ask her if she wants any breakfast - if she says yes she's well enough to go - if she says no send her with a sandwich Only joking Misscommando - see how she is through the night and watch her in the morning - we always feel worst first thing and again in the evening - she will probably feel better as the day goes on - play it by ear
I'd keep her off - she may be o.k whilst resting at home, but her temp may go up again. Let the antibiotics do their job for a couple of days, at least.
